Last day of February 2013 OOTD

So today was the first day of the first ever Finance Convention organized by the University of San Carlos.

And this is what I wore today. ^_^
(no full outfit shots though T_T)

Last week I was caught in an unfortunate car accident, so yes, that explains the bandage. Photo below is a closer look at the bandage I had on my knee.

Black peplum skirt - South Shores
Nail polish - Bobbie Carolina Peach
Black beaded bracelet - EazyFashion
Watch - Anne Klein
Angel-print bandage - Mediplast

The bag I brought was this but in a different color combo. It's in black and sort-of white.

Animal print cross-body bag - Anne Klein

Lastly, for the shoes, I wore dark gray lace-up boots, but here are some alternatives.

Maroon to match the necklace or

an explosive color such as pink to break off the monotony.

Thanks for reading my second outfit-of-the-day post. Till next time!

My Perfect Imperfections

Hola! ^_^

Today I am going to do the Perfect Imperfections Tag. This is actually a vlog-type tag done in YouTube, but I decided to do it here instead.

Apparently, this tag was started by Andrea (AndreasChoice) on YouTube.
Some more Perfect Imperfections videos: Jen (frmheadtotoe) | Tiffy (vaniitydoll) | Lindy aka Bubz (bubzbeauty)

In this tag, you're supposed to state three things that you don't like about yourself and three things you like about yourself. I think though this is more on the physical aspects because the videos I watched with this tag usually discuss that.

Alright, let's start.

3 imperfections
1. Let's start from the top. The hair. A woman's crowning glory. Well, in my case, it's not so glorious.

I don't know if it's obvious in the pictures, but my issue with my hair is that it's dry and kind of frizzy. I have really thick hair so having it dry makes it go everywhere. Notice in the  second picture there are strands flying here and there in the sides and on the top part as well. I know there are moisturizing hair stuff but I don't think they'll work, well at least not yet, since I get exposed to much, much pollution everyday, and I think that is what makes my hair really unmanageable. It frustrates me sometimes that I look okay but then my messy hair makes things look bad.

2. The little thingies under my eye. Haha. I dunno how to explain.

^ the little bumps under this eye

That's because I do not know exactly what they are or what caused them to be there. I have not gone to a dermatologist about this because my mum says it's nothing to be alarmed about, so I leave it be. But, of course, you already probably know why this is such a bother. And they're noticeable because I wear glasses! (Those are my old frames shown in the pic, by the way.) People I meet sometimes point that out and I just shrug off the question. T_T

3. My fingernails. Well not all of them. Just two, actually.

pinky, ring finger, middle finger, pointer

a closer look (pardon the uncut nails)

This is the first time I'll talk about this topic in public, so please be kind. T_T

At first, it was just the ring finger. I don't know exactly when it happened but I just suddenly noticed that the cuticles were sort of being pushed back (you can see the difference, compared to my other normal nails) and the nail was kind of jagged. It was just that; didn't make much of a difference at all; didn't bother me too much; but then later on, it started on my middle finger. This was when things happened quite fast. In addition to the cuticles also being pushed back, the skin near the nail was peeling, and it was peeling layer after layer I actually thought it was going to bleed. The nail became so jagged and thin I also thought it would run out. By this time, the skin near the nail on my ring finger was also starting to peel. I was alarmed by this, so I asked my aunt (doctor). She told me my fingers got infected, but she failed to tell me a probable cause. She just gave an ointment/cream to help heal it.
The pictures are of my fingernails' current state. As you can see, the skin is not peeling anymore, but when I forget to put on the cream for a long duration or when I do the laundry (without laundry gloves), it gets sore, sometimes it wounds, and sometimes it peels. So I have to be careful. As for the nails itself, I know it still looks bad, but this is actually much better now than how it was back before I started the treatment. Also, I always make it to a point to paint my nails to somehow subdue the whole thing going on there. Haha.

Again, it is obvious why I chose this as one of my imperfections. I often cover this hand (my right) with my left hand so that, as much as possible, people don't see this, because they might not understand and they might think that it's contagious. But really, it's not.

3 'perfections'
1. Let's go back to the top. My eyes.

pardon the unruliness in this photo T_T

So this is the closest to a clear-enough photo of my eyes with less makeup. I like my eyes because of its shape (I think it's perfect), my eye color (it's actually just medium-brown), and because this is one thing that I have in common with my mum and my sister. ^_^
'Nuff said.

2. Here comes weird -- my feet. I'm not about to put a photo of them here 'cause that'll make it even weirder. But anyway, I like them because, although they're on the "veiny" side, I think it's awesome that they look good in every pair of shoes (not to boast or anything). Also, they're one part of my body that don't become dark/tan even when I go out under the sun too much. Haha! Weird alert again. :p

3. Had trouble thinking of a third one, because I had more imperfections in mind than this. Hmmm....
(after 3 days...)
I think I'll go with my complexion. I like being fair, but at the same time, I'm not too fair in a way that looks fake. 'Cause you see, here in the Philippines, being beautiful is often equated to being fair, and in the US (or probably just some parts), they like tan skin. I guess you can say I'm in between and I think that's a good place to be. :)

~

To conclude, I'd like to say that being the greatest critic of ourselves that we are, we could probably think of more imperfections. I personally had trouble choosing just three because I had so much in mind! But I also realized that most, if not all, of my imperfections I've already learned to live with and to accept as a part of me. As the tag implies, it's the imperfections that make us who we are -- perfect, no matter what.

I had fun making this tag and I hope you enjoyed reading it as well. Go do this tag too, and you never know what you might discover about yourself.

Till next time,

demidawn ^_^

Why am I skinny? + updates

Some people think it's easier to gain weight than to lose it, but only few realize that both are actually hard.

I've always had struggles with gaining weight, and today I share my story for the first time.

Read the full blog post in Icecreamoholicities.

Also, since I've been a week short of a new post, I'll be putting up a another one this weekend in this blog, which will have its sequel on Icecreamoholicities next week.
Yay for two posts this week! ;)

In addition, I've decided to go Throwback Thursday posts. These will contain my previous notes that are in my Facebook, which I'd like to share with you. Watch out for it! ;D

Thank you for reading my blogs!

Much love,

Phineas and Ferb

Being stuck in the hospital when my sister was admitted last week meant slaving to the TV. So off I went to Disney Channel.

There’s a hundred and four days of summer vacation
And school comes along just to end it
So the annual problem for our generation
Is finding a good way to spend it
Like maybe
Building a rocket or fighting a mummy
Or climbing up the Eiffel Tower
Discovering something that doesn’t exist
Or giving a monkey a shower
Surfing tidal waves, creating nanobots
Or locating Frankenstein’s brain (It’s over here!)
Finding a dodo bird, painting a continent
Or driving their sister insane (Phineas!)
As you can see, there’s whole lot of stuff to do
Before school starts this fall
So stick with us ‘cause Phineas and Ferb are gonna do it all
So stick with us ‘cause Phineas and Ferb are gonna do it all
(Mooom! Phineas and Ferb are making a title sequence!)

I memorized this!! :D

No Makeup Day ^-^

In response to my post in Icecreamoholicities, I present this picture. :D

with my good friend, Danielle Iris :)
This was taken earlier today in Jollibee near our school.

Well, I didn't exactly have no makeup at all. I only had time to put on moisturizer and BB cream this morning, and then I was off. This was only the second time I wore VERY minimal (almost none) makeup going to school. Surprisingly, it didn't feel as weird as the first time.

Must be this person, eh? :D
Iris is a naturally beautiful girl inside and out. And when I'm with her, I feel no pressure to put on all those face glob whatnot.

Cheers to natural beauty! ;*

Random Thought: Tweets

Tweeted a lot today.

Made me think:
Maybe those people who write a lot of witty posts are going through a lot in their life.

Or maybe that's just me.
Haha.

Holiday Gifts

Stuff I got from December 2012 to January 2013.

I noticed that I've been taking photos for my blog at night time, so I've been dealing with horrible artificial lighting. Well that explains the photo quality.
Anyways, ..

So these are my new pair of eyeglasses. My mum got them for me and they're from Executive Optical's own line of eye wear. We bought them in their shop in Ayala.
I chose this particular frame because I was looking for bigger ones compared to my old one, which is probably like three-fourths of this size.
And also (can you guess?) 'cause it's PINK! Teehee. I know, right?

The glasses came with this silvery case, cleaning cloth, and this really awesome mini screwdriver! I dunno if you can see but in the last picture, it shows that it has a flat screw and a cross screw.

Next, we move on to our mini Forever 21 haul (with my mum and sister). Yay, thanks mum! ^_^

For some reason, I've run out of shorts in my wardrobe, so shorts were definitely the number one in my shopping list.

I would've wanted a pair of plain denim shorts, but I don't think there was one on display at that time in F21 (or maybe didn't catch my eye). This was in the ground floor part of their store. So this is just a blue denim, tattered pair that goes with a pretty woven belt.

These are a size 25 (my size) but it's still kind of loose on me. So I think F21's line is maybe too big. Or I'm too petite? Hmmm.

Next, I got these brown "traveling" (as what my sister and I call it) shorts that came with a braided belt that is in kind-of a suede material. My sister got another pair for herself as well, so sometimes we go all matchy outfit with these shorts and same color shirt and shoes. :D

Pardon pooooor lighting :((

These are a size 24 because the size 25 was waaayy too loose. I only fit the size 25, and when I realized it was too big, I grabbed the size 24 and assumed it was okay. Turns out I was wrong. It's loose, yeah, like it doesn't flatter whatever behind I have (haha!) but it's okay since I like my travelling shorts a bit loose. I think though that if there is/was a size 23, it would have been better. Imagine, my sister is a size 27 and a size 25 fit her well.

I also got another pair of bottoms from F21. It's a light blue mini skirt with a matching light blue cloth belt made with the same material as the skirt. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it because I misplaced it as of the moment. Boohoo.

Moving on, I saw this piece and instantly thought that I had to have it. You see, I don't have a lot of button-down shirts 'cause it's usually t-shirts and more casual stuff.

I put this over a black dress when I hang it, as to save space in my dresser.
Comment if you want to see a picture of the dress. ^_^

It's a simple orange button-down shirt with two front pockets and long sleeves. You can see the real color in the bottom right photograph above. This is a size Small but I bet if there was an XS, it would fit me better. I decided to get it even though it was a bit loose since button-down shirts need not to be all form-hugging.

Next, I apologize for the creases, but this is just a turquoise long-sleeved top that I love because of its lace details. It's made of stretchable material, meaning they had to make it a size smaller than what it says in the label/tag, so this one fit me just right.

Alright. So that's it for the Forever21 stuff.

It's time to move on to this next one, and it's from Rough Rider Jeans (RRJ), which is a gift from an aunt for Christmas.

It's a sleeveless sheer top with a funky pattern and ties up at the bottom part. Depending on how daring you are, you can either pair this with a spaghetti strap tank top, a bandeau, or a nude bra. I personally would pair it with the tank top, but depending on my mood, I might try something different next time. ;)

This next one I got for meself is from an online shop called iheartvintage in Facebook. It's a pale pink quite-thick cardigan with pretty bows and lace details.

Jeans haul! Just kidding. But, my mum got me these two pairs of jeans since I also have run out of a decent pair. Nahh. I just really needed new ones. :p

No full photo here. Lighting's too sucky for a picture of the whole thing any way.
So yeah, these are just a pair of regular black denim jeans from the Herbench OJ (Overhauled Jeans) line. Hopefully you can still see what the pockets look like from the photo below.

Another one I got from Bench are a non-denim black skinny jeans, which I use for school during Corporate Attire Wednesdays, since I don't like wearing slacks. It's from the Herbench OJ Americana line, which Lucy Hale endorses.

This isn't the one I have, but it looks like this. Plain black, skinny jeans.

And since peplum is all the rave right now, I got for meself, again in plain black, a peplum skirt. The photo of the actual skirt I bought made the skirt look really big and I have no idea why, so I googled a look-alike.

And this is just how it looks like. The skirt that I have is about two inches above my knees and the peplum part is also asymmetrical like the one shown in the picture. I got mine from South Shores.

Last clothing item I bought is this gray sheer skirt.

I like to call it a "fairy" skirt since it gives that sort-of enchanting feel. Or maybe that's just me. Haha. Anyways, so of course, it's not at all sheer. It has this stretchy fabric inside,
which is shorter than the length of the sheer part.

I'd like to pair this skirt with a loose top, like a sweater or an off-shoulder one,
something casual to dress down this already awesome skirt.

Alrighty! Time for the non-clothing stuff. Phew.

Can this be considered a gift? Boyfie got this from a toy catcher machine at an arcade, and he gave it to me. :)

Just Patrick Star being Patrick Star. ^_^

I'm in love with braided headbands!

Purple and pale pink headbands from Marcella. Teal/pink/light brown headband from South Shores.

More nail polish! Woohoo! I actually had a different color for each nail for New Year. :D
(L-R) Taupe, Blueberry, First Crush, Summer Fling, Kiwi, Sweet Surprise from Caronia. :)

Got this next item from my stepbrother. It was unexpected, really. So thanks, Kuya!

I love the pink pouch that came with it, I'm currently using it as a pencil case to school. :D

This one's so random, but my mum got me this because she thought it'd be cute to bring to school along with a lunch box in case I wanted to bring food for lunch to school.  I know this is sooo cool but I don't bring lunch to school any more, so unfortunately, I don't use this as of the moment.

cute pink, yellow, and green :)

This wallet is from another aunt. She bought it in Australia and it's just a pink Billabong wallet.

So this is very different from the wallets that I own/have because I prefer the simpler kind of wallets, i.e. the one in square form and obviously this is the rectangular one.
But still, I like this because (can you guess?) it is pink. ;p

So this is how it looks like inside. I just have some call cards and a picture with my sister when we were younger (left). I also have some more cards and another picture with some friends (right).

It also has a zipper part where I keep my driver's license, a card-like usb, and some duplicate keys.
I don't store coins here. I keep them in a separate coin purse to keep my wallet from being bulky.

And last, but most definitely not the least, ..

Taadaaa! :D

Probably the best gift I received this year. :)

You see, I've stopped having a planner years ago since I became so sad
after losing my ever beloved planner during a trip to Manila.
But after receiving this from my mum, I  was so happy. It inspires me to keep a planner again.
And that I will definitely do. ^_^

This planner also comes in green, and I think also in black.

The design on the main cover of the planner

So this is just how it looks like on the inside. It is a paper cover/version of the main hard cover.

Every month has its individual "covers". Some are random thoughts stuff,
others are Starbucks-related, such as below.

And my favorite part: their bookmark!
It's a magnetic miniature version of the famous Starbucks drink.
I hear it also comes in the Starbucks cup, and something else.

Phew. So that ends my holiday gifts blog. It was quite a lengthy one, but I hope you liked it. Comment below if you want to have some photos bigger or what posts you would like me to write about next time. Also, check my other blog for upcoming posts. Thanks, and have a great week ahead! ;)
